Mbare
SMOOTH, SWEET CHOCOLATE WITH A DELICATE PEAR FRUITINESS
Super sweet; butterscotch, white chocolate and creamy. This coffee comes from Mbare, a washing station owned by Rwamatamu. This coffee is roasted to a light medium roast degree, highlighting the natural sweetness in this coffee, often found in the Red Bourbon varietal. This makes this coffee great for a highly sweet espresso, smooth and creamy with milk. Equally, a more balanced and easy drinking filter coffee, with less of the acidity and fruitiness of some lighter roasts.
In 2023, Rwamatamu expanded to a new coffee washing station in Mbare, approximately 65 miles from Nyamasheke. Rwamatamu have been focusing on helping small scale producers to prioritise high quality speciality coffee. The high altitude regions of Rwanda help give a perfect environment to grow high quality, dense coffee.

We roast fresh coffee every single week. We guarantee that your order will be dispatched no longer than 10 days from being roasted.
We generally recommend the peak time to brew and extract the best flavours in coffee after at least 1 week for filter coffee and 2 weeks for espresso. Allowing coffee to rest and degas after roasting allows for better flavour extraction when brewing.
