Mutara Hill
CLEAN, BRIGHT PEACH FLAVOURS AND A TROPICAL FINISH
The first coffee from Burundi we have released - clean, bright and fruity. Expect notes of strawberry, peach tea and tropical notes. A coffee that is a dream to brew on filter, with clean fruity notes and a silky texture that makes it distinctive from your regular filter brew.
Naturally processed, but delivering super clean a bright flavours that you expect from washed coffees. Grown by 219 smallholder families on the slopes of Mutara Hill in Kirundo, Burundi's warm, dry far north. Many farms here are run by women heading their households, and by young farmers who took over the family plot early. Together they've built a community lot that punches well above its weight.
Kirundo's climate is made for naturals: clean, expressive cups, but only with careful, patient drying. That care comes through Cafex, one of our longest-standing partners in Burundi. It was founded by a Belgian-Burundian couple who returned to their ancestral land to grow great coffee and lift the community around it.
The lot is then milled at Ikawa Nziza, Burundi's first purpose-built specialty dry mill, set at altitude and designed for microlots like this one.

We roast fresh coffee every single week. We guarantee that your order will be dispatched no longer than 10 days from being roasted.
We generally recommend the peak time to brew and extract the best flavours in coffee after at least 1 week for filter coffee and 2 weeks for espresso. Allowing coffee to rest and degas after roasting allows for better flavour extraction when brewing.
